In a bizarre collaboration that challenges usual forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Uncovered

According to the official release, "A strange confrontation pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where rumors of prohibited ceremonies and terrifying metamorphoses resonate through the obscurity." The plot features a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who charges the duo with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a clandestine sect.

The mission focuses on "bizarre trials and a fearsome adversary" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Places and Transformations

The teaser showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser concludes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, probably the captive, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Prizes and Extra Content

Players who finish the quest will acquire an special katana in addition to several objects concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Special weapons
• Survey Corps vehicle

Latest Free Story Content

This patch also adds the game's latest no-cost story content, titled "The Enigma." This humorous mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic skills: Naoe reveals a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This represents scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime series. The series formerly featured a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially included a quest that clearly nodded to the famous series One-Punch Man.
